Nourish your attention

Attention is a living, breathing part of consciousness. It needs food. Nourish it well and it will be satisfied and grow nicely. Starve it and it will wither sadly. Overfeed it and it will become anxious. Empty calories, cakes and candies may tantalize but will not nourish in a lasting fashion, leading to boredom and dissatisfaction. Attention is also a very specific entity studied extensively in cognitive psychology. Sometimes it is difficult to bridge between the academic conception of attention and our commonplace knowledge of it. In any event, attention is definitely something that requires your attention, if you know what I mean. In other words, be mindful of your attention and you will benefit greatly.
