Nice is not just a four letter word
Kindness is particularly emphasized in the Mahayana and Vajrayana teachings. Kindness is synonymous with compassion of the “greater vehicle”. Theravada Buddhists, however also emphasize kindness and substantiate the importance of kindness in Theravadan Buddhism with scriptural citations in the Tipitaka. Ajahn Brahm is a Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest Tradition and was a principle student of Ajahn Chah, in the Theravadan tradition. His dharma talks spend emphasize the importance of kindness in the path to enlightenment. For Ajahn Brahm, kindness is perhaps the number one element in pursuing enlightenment. To be kind, for him, is to be enlightened. Therefore, kindness is of utmost importance in Buddhist practice. I would like to know how people implement kindness in their daily lives and how they have found it to be an important element in the path to enlightenment.
