This topic is my baby.
This is what really let me enter Buddhism as a practice. I am not one for the need to return to holy places, and the urgency of repeating holy phrases. Don’t get me wrong, I love religious architecture, song, poetry and the like. However, it is also not needed. Buddhism is about washing the dishes. Buddhism is about waiting at the red light. Buddhism is about changing the dirty diapers. Buddhism is about waking up and smelling the moldy bread you left in the refrigerator behind the ketchup. These are the everyday activities that will not be possible once you are dead. Cherish them. Be alert. Be aware. Start with the breath, then extend attention into every possible nook and cranny of your life. You will not regret it.
