I still yearn for greatness

I still yearn for greatness, despite knowing it is foolish and will cause suffering. I wish for glory and to be recognized as great and wise and wealthy in all that I do. It will always tempt me in this way, like a dangling carrot in front of the laboring donkey, forever causing forward movement to nowhere in particular.
