Humble would be a nicer way to put it

It is of utmost importance to always remain teachable. Even those approaching enlightenment can suddenly veer off into the ravine if they become unteachable. This requires humility and humbleness, twin concepts with different intensities. Sometimes it really is best to be humiliated, though, and your outcome will be better. You will have learned, for instance, from your mistakes and be able to take teachings from anyone around who may know the best way to proceed. The expert isn’t always a person in authority. Sometimes the expert is a severely disabled person or a dying person. Sometimes the expert is an insect or an inanimate object. These can all be our teachers, but to be taught, humility must come first.
